I bought this newspaper on Ebay a few days ago. The paper is dated august 11, 1945, the day after Japan had offered their surrender. So this newspaper actually announces the end of the second world war.
The newspaper “TROUW’ (Dutch for “loyalty” and is cognate with the English adjective “true” ) was established in the Second World War as resistance newspaper. Read more about it HERE.
Trouw still exist today and is proclaimed ‘European Newspaper of the Year 2012’ on November 15, 2012.
